Thought for the Day - Solutions, Solutions, Solutions

‎"Positive thinkers think and talk continually about solutions, and negative thinkers continually talk and think about problems. Keep your mind solution-focused rather than problem- focused."

---Brian Tracy

Or as I like to say, "Okay you told me the problem now what's the solution?" Solutions, SolutIons, Solutions....

Thought for the Day - Trust Your Own Instinct

"Trust your own instinct.  Your mistakes might as well be your own, instead of someone else's."

~Billy Wilder

The funny thing is most of my mistakes I have made in life were when I didn't trust my instinct or overroad it.

Thought for the Day - Strain Your Potential

"I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy."

— Og Mandino

What a powerful way to live your life. This is something I need to keep reminding myself of daily. I can do more, be more, contribute more, achieve more, demand more and live more.

Thought for the Day - Make Your Circumstances

"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, they make them."

-- George Bernard Shaw

We are a result of the choices we make in life. The goal is to keep making better choices...

Thought for the Day - Unwritten

"Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten"

-- Natasha Bedingfield

What a great song and lyrics that captures the spirit of embracing life. The song is used at many school graduations because it inspires students to take life on and write the story of your life by living it to the fullest. I say YES!

Thought for the Day - Remain Open Minded

"Generally the theories we believe we call facts, and the facts we disbelieve we call theories."

-- Felix Cohen

Very true. It's a matter of perception. Just because we don't believe it doesn't make it untrue or wrong. Some people's beliefs change over time and what they believed when they were young they no longer believe. So I suggest you keep open minded, challenge your self to read and listen to views that are different than yours. Be humble to recognize your beliefs may just be that your beliefs. Always seek to learn more, explore new ideas, don't be complacent. respect others with opposing points of view. Don't be afraid to engage in dialogue and discussion with others who disagree with you. Recognize that you are not infallible.
Recognize that much of what we believed years ago has changed. Stay open....

Thought for the Day - Challenge Your Old Beliefs

"An old belief is like an old shoe. We so value the comfort that we fail to notice the hole in it."

-- Robert Brault

How many old beliefs do you have that are not serving you but you hold on to them because well just because? They can be beliefs on life, people, politics, love or just about anything. After a while we can justify anything we believe even if it doesn't work or is untrue. It's scary to re-look at our beliefs and how we acquired them and from who and if they are still correct and if they are serving to empower us or keep us frozen in the comfort zone. Many people prefer to take on most of their beliefs when they are young and never re-examine them and run on automatic pilot for the rest of their lives. I challenge you to challenge your self and your beliefs and be open to alternative points of view. Challenge yourself to keep growing, changing and push your self beyond the limits you set a long time ago....

Thought for the Day - Make Your Future Bigger Than Your Past

"Always make your future bigger than your past."

-- Dan Sullivan, Catherine Nomura

Don't be looking back at your glory days thinking your best years are behind you. Keep finding a way to make your future bigger and better than anything you did in the past. I keep adding things to my goal/bucket list. I know I will never be able to complete all the items on my ever-growing list but I sure am going to try.

Thought for the Day - Make Your ?'s Bigger Than Your Answers

"What we already know is in the past. What we have yet to discover is in the future. Always make your questions bigger that your answers and you'll keep drawing yourself into a bigger future with new possibilities"

-- Dan Sullivan, Catherine Nomura

Keep questioning, keep learning, keep discovering, keep growing and keep keeping on.....

Thought for the Day - Be Committed

‎"There's a difference between being committed and interested. Interested means you'll do what's convenient, while committed means you will do WHATEVER IT TAKES!"

-- John Assaraf

You've been there, you're interested in something or someone but you never act on it, but when you are committed you make it a must and you find a way to make it happen. What's the difference? First it's a decision that leads to action that defines commitment. Being interested in something is usually just a wish followed by inaction. So for all the important things in your life you need to be committed, make them a must and do whatever it takes for as long as it takes.
I know that is how I have accomplished the things I have in my life and I need to remind myself of this regulary as I embark on new projects and endeavors. So get committed and stay committed....

Thought for the Day - Focus on the Big Things

"Be master of your petty annoyances and conserve your energies for the big, worthwhile things. It isn't the mountain ahead that wears you out - it's the grain of sand in your shoe."

--Robert Service Canadian poet (1874 - 1958)

Like someone else said, "Don't sweat the small stuff." Sometimes we get caught up with things that distract us from the big mountain we need to climb. I know I struggle with this and continue to remind myself to stay focused,

Thought for the Day - My Deeds Tell the Story of My Life

"I wish I had the power to retouch my life as the artist retouches his picture. But I cannot do so. My life must stand alone or fail by what I have done, not by what I have dreamt."

-- Samuel Smiles 1850

Who hasn't or doesn't wish you could retouch aspects of your life? I know I do but of course I can't. There is much of my life I am proud of and there is much more I intend to do in the future and i hope I can step up the quantity and quality of those achievements. Yet in the end it won't be my dreams that tell the story of my life but what I have done and achieved. And I'm good with that....

Thought for the Day - Walk Boldly

"Most of our obstacles would melt away if, instead of cowering before them, we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them."

—Orison Swett Marden

I remember the first time I did a fire walk and stood in front of the hot coals. I felt nervous and yes, even a little afraid but I felt the fear and strode boldly across the hot coals. That night I realize that the metaphor was the most important part of the experience. I felt it in my body the lesson that in life we can and maybe should feel fear in the face of the unknown or challenging events but we should stride boldly forward and we will get to the other side.

Thought for the Day - Deliver Results

‎"Leadership's not about using beautiful words but delivering breathtaking results."

-- Robin Sharma

Today I work in a position where it's all about the results. I an a line producer on feature films and an important part of my job is to bring the film in on time and on budget. No one wants to hear excuses only results. But should be true in all endeavors. I have worked as a counselor with kids and even very briefly as a substitute teacher among the numerous jobs I've held and I believe it's always about the results. Challenge yourself to produce breathtaking results and you will be invaluable.

Thought for the Day - Summer Follows Winter

"In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was an invincible summer"

-- Albert Camus

I have experienced many winters in my life as I'm sure you have and somehow, someway I have found a way through and summer appears. This is a great metaphor to remind ourselves of when we find ourselves in a difficult period in our life. Keep believing, keep working, keep dreaming, keep hoping and keep striving for a better tomorrow and you will get there....

Thought for the Day - The 90 % Difference

"I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. We are in charge of our attitudes."

-- Unknown

I remember the 1st time I applied this in a rather dramatic way, I was standing with a friend across from the Bronx Zoo looking at my car that was almost totaled after being crashed into by a drunk driver. I was hurting from whiplash and I remember laughing out loud and saying "Well, no more car payments." I was glad to be alive and instead of feeling like woe is me I saw the positive. That belief has served me over and over since as I have encountered obstacles and challenges in my life. I can't control most of life and what happens to me at times but I can always control my attitude and response. I choose never to be a victim but to find or create an empowering meaning and suggest you do the same....

Thought for the Day - Words Matter

"Words matter. The words you use determine the way you feel. Call some condition a "disaster" and that will create a completely different emotional response that defining it as a "learning opportunity."
Every word creates a consequence (whether you realize it or not).
Do you speak like a victim? Is your daily language the Language of Blame. Do you suffer from the dreaded disease of victimitis excusitis? :)
Or do you speak like a Leader Without Title, whose words inspire and energize and help people move from where they now are to where they've always dreamed of being?"

-- Robin Sharma

I have adopted this in my life and choose to see problems as challenges, setbacks as opportunities and it has positively impacted the choices and outcomes in my life. Emotions are connected to words and if we are pissed or peeved affects how we feel. Just like everything in life the words we choose to describe a situation matters. Choose words that empower you and allow you to find solutions.

Thought for the Day - Personal Development

"Personal development challenges you to make decisions based on the person you seek to become. The highest reward for a person's toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it."

--John Ruskin, 1869

I started down the road of personal development in the 1980's. I was introduced to it by a sales manager @ Jack La Lanne who would listen to motivational tapes in his car. I purchased one of the first personal development tapes sets by Brian Tracy.Since then I have listened to many tapes, read hundreds of books, attended seminars and have made personal development and growth one of my key priorities in life. My life has been rewarded because of it.

Thought for the Day - Empowered Point of View

How do you see the world? Are you like a frog in a well or an eagle?
How you see the world comes from the perspective you have. It can come from either your personal experiences or how much you learn from others experiences. try to expand your perspective and point of view. Learn to see things from many sides not just one.
Choose a perspective that allows you to see things from above with the broadest perspective possible. Be an eagle not a frog.

Saturday's Motivational Video - The Big Question

I met W Mitchell at a Tony Robbins seminar in Maui 17 years ago. Meeting him put all the challenges I was going through in perspective. Never again would I complain or whine about any problems or difficulties I faced. My new belief would get tested many times since that day but I would never forget W Mitchell. He became a model for me of what is possible.

Thought for the Day - Possibility Thinking

"Positive Thinking asks the question "Is it Possible?" Possibility Thinking asks the "get ready to get going" question, "How can I make it happen?"

--Rev. Robert H. Schuller

Positive Thinking is a good first step but a more powerful mindset knows it is possible and the question is how to make it happen.
Possibility thinking is a mindset of confidence and faith. You can do it. the only question is will you?

Thought for the Day - Raise the Bar

" A funny thing happens when you raise the bar. People find a way to get over it, once they realize it's expected. Human beings can do amazing things - if they are asked to."

--John Powers

Many times in life we let our comfort zone set the bar for us and you can be sure it is set way too low. It's worth looking at what areas of your life have you set you bar too low. It's times to raise the bar higher than you think possible. You'll be surprised at the results.
